Computer system to combat fraud
A new computer system is being developed to help Guernsey fight money-laundering.

The software is being specially designed for the island's Financial Intelligence Service. It is hoped the development will help to cement Guernsey's reputation as a world leader in the fight against financial crime.

The island was recently commended by the International Monetary Fund for its stringent controls.

Representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) spent time on both Jersey and Guernsey last year.

The team of experts who examined how well the islands regulated financial services and prevented money laundering, praised both islands for their work.

The IMF congratulated Guernsey on its finance regulation and rules to combat money laundering and terrorism.
