A Channel Island airline says the decision to raise the price of air fares to and from Guernsey was taken very reluctantly. FlyBe has added a �1.50 surcharge to all its flights.
The company says the increase is due to worsening political violence in the Middle East.
It claims the violence is endangering oil supplies which in turn has led to an increase in the current cost of aviation fuel.
FlyBe general manager, Ian Taylor, says the recent moves to compensate for this by increasing oil production will not have an immediate effect.
Oil facilities in the Iraqi city of Basra were disrupted by a bomb attack on Tuesday and a number of westerners have been shot and killed in Saudi Arabia in recent weeks.
