Call for action on fireworks use
Fireworks
A requete was brought to the States last year
A Guernsey politician is calling for action over the misuse of fireworks in the run up to Guy Fawkes' Night.

Deputy Janine Le Sauvage says she is disappointed there has been no progress since the States agreed last year to examine the issue.

After complaints from islanders about fireworks, a requete was brought to the States by former Deputy Dave Barrett.

The relevant department agreed to look at the problem but as yet nothing has been put before the States.

After the requete was brought, the Board of Industry and Home Affairs agreed to look at the problem.

This was then taken on by Commerce and Employment under the new machinery of government.

But it is now unlikely that anything will change before this year's Bonfire Night.
