Wave power could benefit island

Islands off Scotland are already using the sea as a form of power
A UK consultancy has highlighted the importance of the sea as a source of sustainable energy for Guernsey.

It follows a government-funded initiative to encourage communities to use alternative sources of power.

Tim German, manager of Cornwall Sustainable Energy Partnership, said the Bailiwick had the perfect source around it.

He said this had been proved by islands off Scotland which were already using the sea as a form of power.

Mr German said he believed all communities should be looking at the efficiency of existing supplies, as well as renewable energy.
