Channel Islands Air Search has been heavily involved in the search |
One fisherman has died and another three are missing after a French fishing vessel capsized close to the Minquiers south west of Jersey. A distress call was received just after 1500 GMT on Thursday from the 12-metre crabber L'Armand.
And at 1630 on Thursday the French trawler Sebastien recovered the body of one of the crew members.
Channel Islands Air Search (CIAS) has been heavily involved in the search, which resumed at first light on Friday.
The French rescue service sent a naval helicopter and lifeboats, with a St Malo customs vessel and four trawlers, to the area 14 nautical miles north of Cap Frehel in Brittany.
The identities of the men have not been revealed.
St Malo fishermen's spokesman, Daniel Lucas, said the only hope of finding any survivors would be if the missing men managed to jump into a life raft.
