Cambridge Projects was asked to look at the Education Council plans |
Islanders are being given the chance to assess alternatives to the Education Council's school redevelopment programme. A public meeting is being held at the Frossard Lecture Theatre at Candie in St Peter Port at 2000 GMT on Thursday.
Cambridge Projects were commissioned by the island's Advisory and Finance Committee to provide suggestions for the next phase of the redevelopment scheme.
Their ideas include the building of two new secondary schools, instead of three, and fewer classes per year with larger class sizes.
The team behind the report will give a presentation to States members and the public at the meeting.
Cambridge Projects managing director John Hinchliffe said it would give islanders the opportunity to assess the alternative to the Education Council's programme as he believed more money could be saved. The Council's plans include a new sixth form centre at the Grammar School and improvements to the College of Further Education.
Mr Hinchliffe said: "We were asked to take an independent look at the previous assumptions made regarding the education development programme and question them and explore other options.
"We haven't come up with any right or wrong answers in our report, but we have produced some facts and figures so the elected members can be better informed when they come to make their decisions.
"For example, you could save 18m purely on wasted inflation by modifying the programme of works within the 15-year envelope.
"And within that 15-year period, you could save over 100m, depending on which options you went for."
