Deputy Dave Barrett objected to permission, granted in principle, to allow Healthy Direct to build a large herb-processing plant on land south of the airport.

He said the plant was industrial rather than horticultural and took his case to the Court of Appeal after a Royal Court decision ruled in favour of the IDC.

Deputy Barrett was concerned that the site, next to his house, was designated as Green Zone Three.

The Rural Area Plan states that that land should be restricted to agriculture, horticulture and recreation.
