A Guernsey politician says she is concerned over the lack of progress on two new laws for the island. Deputy Pat Mellor says she has received calls regularly on both the issue of rehabilitation of offenders and doctor-assisted death.
Deputy Mellor says she is frustrated at the delay which is because the States is busy dealing with changes to the machinery of government.
She claims the delay to the rehabilitation of offenders legislation is affecting the lives of islanders on a daily basis.
According to Deputy Mellor there are cases of islanders who committed an offence many years ago still having to mention them on job application forms.
"It's terrible, it's exactly those kind of people who this act is intended to protect," she said.
"That's something that is affecting ordinary people in their daily lives."
