A lack of big rubbish bins is being blamed for litter piling up on some of Guernsey's beaches. Former Guernsey fisherman Howard Nichols says the States should be doing more to protect the island.
Mr Nichols believes most of the rubbish on Guernsey's beaches has been dropped by local residents, with only a small amount washed up.
He says the problem is worst in the summer when people tend to leave rubbish next to bins where it gets trodden on and then blows around.
Mr Nichols says larger bins would also help reduce litter in the area of the Bridge.
He is also concerned that large amounts of rubbish are washed down drains during wet weather and end up on the shoreline.
