| Thursday, 19 October, 2000, 12:46 GMT 13:46 UK Concern over attacks on Jewish targets The head of Germany's National Council of Jews, Paul Spiegel, has expressed concern about the recent spate of attacks on Jewish targets. Mr Spiegel said the renewed violence made him doubt how deeply rooted democracy was in German society. He questioned whether Germans had learnt the right lessons from their history. The attacks have prompted calls for a ban on one of the main far-right parties, the NPD, but the latest reports say interior ministers from German states have not agreed whether to push the measure through.
