European air chaos into the weekend

Passengers can expect significant disruption to European air travel into the weekend as a volcanic ash cloud preventing flights is "quite stable", Eurocontrol has said.

Many countries have closed their airspace amid fears the ash could damage aircraft engines.

Brian Flynn, deputy head of operations at Eurocontrol, said more than 50% of air passenger movements were cancelled on Friday.
