The presidential election in Croatia has failed to produce an outright winner so the two candidates that won the most votes will face a second round in January.

Ivo Josipovic of the opposition Social Democrats took 32% of the vote and the independent mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandic, had nearly 15%. Both men aim to take Croatia into the European Union.
