Guenter Schabowski was the spokesman for the ruling party in communist East Germany on 9th November 1989.
He mistakenly announced that visas would be freely granted to those who wanted to leave the country, with immediate effect.
This led to people making their way to the border and his comments are widely thought to have led to the fall of the Wall.
But 20 years on he has told the BBC that the announcement was not an error and it was just revealed earlier than it should have been.
