Greek fires rage into the night

More than 70 wildfires have started across Greece over the last 24 hours - the worst blazes on the mainland since 2007, officials say.

As night fell, fire crews - backed by helicopters and water-bombers - continued their battle to prevent the flames from spreading to a northern suburb of the Greek capital, Athens.

Footage shows fires in the greater region of Marathon, known as the birthplace of the ancient marathon and home to at least 10,000 residents.
