High winds hit north-west France

Winds of up to 140km/h (87mph) have hit northern and western France, disrupting power supplies and transport routes.

Thousands of households across the north of the country have been left with out electricity after power lines were damaged.

In Paris, the Eiffel Tower was closed to tourists as a safety precaution as high winds hit the French capital.
