'Ceasefire not upheld' - Georgia

In a BBC interview, the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili called for Russia to 'stop the madness' and begin respecting a ceasefire that he says has been in place in Georgia since 5am local time.

Mr Saakashvili also called for a need to 're-establish relations' with Russia, asking for a 'separation of forces and ceasefire'.

Russia denied that exchanges of fire had stopped, and continued to bomb targets near Georgia's capital Tbilisi.
