| Wednesday, 1 March, 2000, 16:49 GMT Riefenstahl in plane crash The veteran German photographer and film maker, Leni Riefenstahl, has been injured in a plane crash in central Sudan. Miss Riefenstahl, who is ninety-seven, broke ribs when a light aircraft she was travelling in made a forced landing. She was returning to the capital, Khartoum, from the Nuba mountains, where she had been visiting tribespeople she photographed in the 1970s. Miss Riefenstahl is best known as the maker of the leading propaganda film of the Nazi era -- a documentary on the 1936 Olympic Games entitled "The Triumph of the Will" -- though she denies she was ever a Nazi.
