 Mr Tarculovski led a police attack on civilians, the indictment says |
Former Macedonian police officer Johan Tarculovski has appeared before the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague after his arrest last week. He asked for another 30 days to enter a plea to charges relating to the murder of seven ethnic Albanians during the conflict in Macedonia in 2001.
At the time, Mr Tarculovski, 30, was a bodyguard for the then Macedonian interior minister, Ljube Boskovski.
The two men are the only Macedonians to be indicted over events in Macedonia.
The indictment against Mr Boskovski and Mr Tarculovski charges both men with murder, wanton destruction and cruel treatment in the village of Ljuboten, 12km (eight miles) from Skopje.
Mr Boskovski is currently awaiting trial in Croatia over a separate incident involving the deaths of seven South Asian immigrants.
Mr Boskovski denies all the charges against him.
The trial judge accepted Mr Tarculovski's request to delay proceedings.
