Impeached leader in hospital
Rolandas Paksas leaves parliament in Vilnius after being impeached
Paksas has vowed to run again for the presidency
Lithuania's impeached president, Rolandas Paksas, has been taken to hospital for high blood pressure, the presidential office has confirmed.

The condition of Mr Paksas, who is 47 and a keen sportsman, is "not very serious", presidential adviser Antanas Martusevicius told BBC News Online.

Unconfirmed media reports suggest he became unwell at a farewell banquet hours after his sacking on Tuesday.

MPs impeached him for violating the constitution - a charge he denies.

Mr Paksas was accused of leaking classified material and giving citizenship to a Russian businessman in return for financial support.

He described the vote, which came after he had been in office for just over a year, as a "vendetta" to punish his "efforts to fight corruption" and is expected to stand for re-election.
