Mr Trajkovski will lie in state in parliament |
The remains of Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski were returned home, almost a week after his death in a plane crash in Bosnia-Hercegovina. The coffins of Mr Trajkovski and eight others were put on board a US Air Force plane after a brief ceremony at Sarajevo airport.
A guard of honour received them in Macedonia's capital, Skopje.
Mr Trajkovski's coffin was then driven to parliament, where he will lie in state until Friday's state funeral.
Investigation
The cause of Thursday's accident, which happened in a mountainous part of southern Bosnia, is still unknown.
Most of the dead were badly burned in the crash, which happened in thick fog as the president flew to an investment conference in Mostar.
The Macedonian government has asked Nato for help in the investigation.
Nato forces control the airspace at Mostar airport, where Mr Trajkovski's plane was due to land.
Nato has controlled airspace in Bosnia since the war ended in 1995.
A Nato spokesman in Macedonia, Craig Ratcliff, warned against "any premature conclusions or... looking for a scapegoat or someone to hang for the accident".
