This year's appeal was launched with a parade |
Involving youngsters in Jersey in the launch of the poppy appeal can help keep the memory of past conflicts alive, it is being claimed. This year's appeal was launched on Sunday with a parade of more than 400 youngsters.
Cadets from the Jersey Sea Cadet Corps, The Combined College Cadet Force and the Jersey Air Training Corps met at Howard Davis Park on Sunday to mark the launch of this year's appeal.
They marched to the cenotaph where they were presented with poppies from the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Cheshire.
Owen Winscombe from the Royal British Legion said it was important for youngsters to get involved so they can understand the kind of sacrifices made for them.
Poppies will go on sale on Sunday.
