Growers' dismay over school plan
Greenhouse
A review of Guernsey's horticultural industry has been carried out
Guernsey horticulturalists say they are disappointed at the States decision to develop the Les Nicolles site for two new secondary schools.

Guernsey Growers Association (GGA) has added its voice to the opposition to accommodate schools on the site in St Sampson.

In the joint review of the island's horticultural industry, presented to the States last month the Horticultural Committee and GGA set out its strategy for the future.

One of the joint aims is to identify key strategic sites for emergent plant production.

Twenty sites of between five and 10 acres are being sought.

GGA president, Dave Miller, said Les Nicolles would have been one of the prime candidates.

He said he is extremely disappointed that the site is going to be used to build two new secondary schools.
