Views sought over 'open skies'
Jersey airport check-in
The move would mean airlines would not need licenses
Airlines which operate to and from Jersey Airport have been asked to tell the States what they think of opening island routes to competition.

The authorities want to introduce an open skies policy for the island.

Under such a policy any airline wanting to fly on any route would almost certainly be given permission to do so.

Under the present system they need a licence.

The Economic Development Comittee argues passengers would benefit from more competition.

But the States must debate the new policy first.

And before it comes up in the House, airlines are being asked to comment on the proposals.
