About 60 people will march through the streets of St Helier

Jersey people will be commemorating a special military connection in this year's Minden Day Parade.

The annual procession through St Helier commemorates those who fell at the Battle of Minden in Germany over 240 years ago.

The island has special connections with the Battle of Minden.

Jerseyman Captain Charles William le Geyt commanded a unit at the battle.

One of the regiments which fought, the 37th Foot, evolved to be the Royal Hampshire regiment, to which the Royal Jersey Militia was attached.

At this weekend's parade, there will be music from the Jersey band and laying of wreaths in honour of those who fell.

Islanders with a link to the battle or the regiments which fought in it will be presented with red roses.
