The Court of Appeal in London has reduced the amount of damages awarded to the McDonald's hamburger chain in what was the longest trial in English legal history.
Two environmental campaigners had the libel award made against them in 1997 cut from sixty-thousand pounds to forty thousand.
They had handed out leaflets saying that McDonalds exploited its workers, damaged the environment, and gave its customers food that led to heart disease.
The appeal judges said some of the claims were fair.
