Royal Court plans on show

The plans for the Royal Court include a grand entrance hall
Islanders have been given the opportunity to find out more about Guernsey's new Royal Court building.

A special presentation on Wednesday at the St Pierre Park Hotel included a video showing three-dimensional images of what the completed development should look like.

The Board of Administration, which organised the event, wanted to reassure islanders the building would be in keeping with Guernsey's historic style of architecture.

The plans include a grand entrance hall intended for public gatherings and meetings outside court hours.

All seven arches from the old prison facade will be relocated to create echoes of the past.

Local materials, including granite and render walls, will form the basis of the new 21st century court building.
