Two family-run Jersey supermarkets have been taken over by the company which runs Le Riches stores. Channel Island Traders says it will continue to run Benests and Fineprice independently for the foreseeable future.
Channel Island Traders own the Le Riche chain, including the island's Stampers and Checkers stores.
Benests of Millbrook and Fineprice at St Clement have been owned by the Benest family for more than 100 years.
Simon Benest said they had been thinking about selling for the past four years because of increasing competition.
They had been in talks with supermarket groups in Europe and the UK, but he said they were pleased to be handing over to another local company.
Channel Island Traders said they would keep all the present staff and the family character of the shops.
