Lottery tickets sales in the Channel Islands have fallen by 8.5%
Jersey charities are to receive less money from the Channel Island lottery after a fall in ticket sales.

Ticket sales fell by 8.5% in 2002-03, with a 5% drop in Jersey and a 12% fall in Guernsey.

The Association of Jersey Charities has 176,000 of lottery money to give to good causes.

But it says that this is 41,000 down on last year.

Improve premises

Among projects set to benefit this year are the Jersey Council on Alcoholism, which will receive almost 20,000 to help improve its premises.

A further 20,000 will refit homes for people with special needs at Les Amis residential centre.

The Spring Trust, which collects children after school and during the holidays, is being given nearly 20,000 for two new minibuses.

Children who use Centrepoint Children's Resource Centre are also set to benefit from a grant of almost 18,500 for new facilities.
