Crews prepare for islands race
Yachts
The annual race is taking place on Saturday, 21 June

Entries are now being accepted for the 40th Dresdner Channel Island Yacht Race.

This year, the annual race from Jersey to Guernsey is taking place on Saturday, 21 June.

The islands take it in turns to host the start of the challenge, and this year it is Jersey's honour.

More than 100 boats are expected to take part, with more than 600 local and visiting crew members involved.

They will be on board a field of yachts of all sizes and types, battling for a variety of cups and trophies.

Favourable winds

The course will run from St Aubin along the south coast, before rounding Corbiere and then on to St Peter Port in Guernsey.

Favourable winds should mean most yachts complete the 26-mile course in a time of between four and five hours.

The overall winner will receive the Dresdner Trophy.

The St Helier and Guernsey Yacht Clubs will also be awarding anyone under the age of 25 on the day of the race with the Young Helmsperson award.
