Jersey lights the way
New technology designed to make pedestrian crossings safer is due to start working in Jersey.

Electronic studs in the road change colour with the traffic lights.

Jersey already has a crossing that uses so-called "intelligent road studs".

But the link between the Waterfront complex and the rest of town has lights which flash only one colour.

The new crossing, near the Grand Hotel, changes colour with the traffic lights.

The system had been due to start on Friday, but vital components have not arrived yet.

It could be several weeks before Jersey has this brand new crossing system.
