Politicians group to meet
Jersey States
Senator Ted Vibert has called together 14 politicians
A group of Jersey's States members is to begin meeting regularly because they believe they are being "kept in the dark" over government business.

Senator Ted Vibert has called together 14 politicians who he says have similar views on social policy.

But Senator Vibert has denied the reason he has called the group together is to form a political party.

He says that could happen in the future but this time there are other subjects to discuss.

'Not informed'

These include sewerage charges and so-called taxation by stealth.

The group will also discuss freedom of information.

Senator Vibert says there is a feeling among members who are not on major committees that they are not being informed about government business.

It is being held at the St Paul's Centre on Wednesday evening because Senator Vibert says there is nowhere in the States building to hold such meetings during the evening.

He says it will meet once a fortnight.
