Tax rise fears grow
Taxes may go up again if Jersey's politicians cannot find a way to save money.

Islanders also face a cutback in services as committee presidents look at where savings can be made.

Tourism has 8m to spend this year, but next year's budget might not be so generous.

Jersey's government faces the prospect of going 16m into the red, unless the States make cuts.

Committees like tourism are having to find savings of up to 10%.

But islanders are unlikely to learn what public services will be affected until the summer.

More than 150 proposals have been put forward, hoping to generate a saving of 30m.

But growth is also expected to be about 30m for extra spending on health and education.
