The website will go live in April with the new crop of potatoes |
Former Jersey islanders living in the UK will in the future be able to buy Jersey Royal Potatoes over the internet. The website, launched by a local farmer this week, will go live in mid-April with the new crop of potatoes.
St John Farmer Richard Le Boutellier is launching the website after his business was awarded money in a new agriculture and fisheries marketing scheme.
He was given 4,000 to help design the website and the one kilogramme boxes the potatoes will be sent in.
Further afield
He is also going to be selling his crop at the airport and the harbour.
At first he hopes to focus his attention on buyers in the United Kingdom.
But he said if enough people request boxes to be sent further afield, he would potentially be interested.
