Jersey's agricultural industry has been put in the national spotlight by Farmers Weekly magazine. It is reporting on the decline of farming in the island.
The article, in the latest edition, describes how Jersey's agriculture industry is still famous around the world for its cows, potatoes and tomatoes.
But the report goes on to explain the difficulties island producers are experiencing.
Recent review
Costs for Jersey farmers are described as "high" and islanders do not benefit from the level of subsidies that EU producers receive.
Many of the issues were raised in the recent review of the dairy industry, which called on the States to provide emergency funding and for farmers and the Jersey Milk Company to reduce costs.
Speaking to the magazine the chairman of the Jersey Milk Marketing Board, Andrew Le Gallais, said there were still opportunities to be gained if the price of milk can rise sufficiently to ensure profitability for producers.
