Senator Kinnard will discuss the scheme idea with her committee |
Neighbourhood watch schemes could be introduced in Jersey to help crack down on vandalism and theft. Home Affairs Committee president, Senator Wendy Kinnard, says she will discuss the idea with her committee.
Deputy Bob Hill wants the idea looked at because he claims the police cannot always do enough to prevent anti-social behaviour.
But Senator Kinnard has warned this type of scheme will only work if island communities support them properly.
"It could happen, provided communities themselves are prepared to pick up the ball and run with it," she said.
"We have heard that, in the UK and other areas, it does work extremely well.
"But it does depend on continued enthusiasm from those involved."
