Special delivery in hospital car park
Jersey General Hospital
Two midwives helped with the delivery
One of Jersey's newest residents was in such a rush to arrive that he ended up being born in the general hospital's car park.

Baby Theodore van Oordt was born in his parents Honda CRV at the entrance of Patriotic Street car park after his mum, Anna, went into labour on Tuesday morning.

Mrs van Oordt did not want to wake her husband early and left it until 0745 GMT before alerting him to the situation.

By the time they left the house, her contractions were just a minute apart and they did not make it to the hospital.

Instead, two midwives rushed to the car park to help with the birth.

Little Theodore was born at 0840 GMT weighing 8 lb 4 oz (3.8 kg).
