Homes 'should be cheaper'
Jersey's Waterfront development
New homes: Jersey's Waterfront development
It is claimed new homes on Jersey's Waterfront should be cheaper for first time buyers.

The President of the Jersey Estate Agents Association, Alan Maclane, said properties on the open market could be a better deal.

The homes, on Jersey's Waterfront in St Helier, will range in price from 140,000 to 300,000.

But Mr Maclane says the homes should be cheaper because they can only ever be sold to other first time buyers because of a ruling by the States.

Housing list

Mr Maclane says other flats are available on the open market without this restriction and despite the location on the Waterfront he feels the prices are high.

Letters have been sent to the first people on Jersey's housing waiting list offering the new homes.

It is thought sales will take place early next month.

On offer will be 29-one bedroom flats, 37 two-bedroom apartments and several three-bedroom properties.
