Their anger was fuelled by a government ceasefire with ethnic Albanian rebels - who were allowed to withdraw, fully armed, from a village just outside Skopje. ![]() Thousands filled the streets outside parliament ![]() Soldiers and police reservists joined the demonstrators ![]() A police car was destroyed, its lights still blazing ![]() Some protesters waved Macedonian flags... ![]() ...others waved crucifixes or climbed onto vehicles ![]() The anger was sparked by this - a convoy of rebel buses leaving Aracinovo under Nato escort ![]() Angry civilians gathered nearby, incredulous and furious that the rebels were leaving fully armed ![]() The anger was taken out on US soldiers who had formed part of the escort ![]() Fears are growing that the refugee exodus will grow to a flood |
