The anti-globalisation demonstrations began on Thursday, as US President George W Bush attended the summit EU leaders' summit. But they became more violent on the second day as European leaders focusing talks on expanding the EU. ![]() Medics had to attend to the injured ![]() Even police vehicles became subject to attack ![]() Table and chairs from local cafes in the downtown area were burnt ![]() The rioters took apart pavements to stock up on ammunition... ![]() ...and then took their aim ![]() Riot police were on the receiving end of the cobblestones ![]() Nine policemen have been injured in two days of clashes ![]() Among the protesters were anti-globalisation activists, socialists, environmentalists and others ![]() During Mr Bush's presence, demonstrators stressed their opposition to his missile defence plans... ![]() ...Others attacked America's use of the death penalty |
