The hearing was believed to have been concerned with Gulzar's access to his daughter over weekends.

It is understood he wanted the right to have Phoenix every weekend and also to care for her when her mother went away to perform.

The tabloid press has had a field day over the couple's divorce and legal fight, with reporters waiting outside the Royal Courts of Justice every day during the hearings.

But both Brown and Gulzar avoided speaking to reporters during their appearances at the High Court.

Meanwhile, Gulzar has been charged with assault, for allegedly attacking the Spice Girl's younger sister, Danielle.

The incident is said to have been sparked by a row over the couple's daughter.

He has been bailed to appear before magistrate's later this month.

Brown has reportedly agreed to pay �1.25m to Gulzar as part of the divorce settlement. It includes �750,000 in cash and a flat in London valued at �500,000.

Dutch-born dancer Gulzar and Brown, originally from Leeds, met in 1998 when he was hired for the Spice Girls' world tour.

They married at a ceremony at their Buckinghamshire home but split up in January this year after a stormy union.

Despite their differences, Brown recently said of Gulzar: "He's the father of my child and he's a very good dad."

The Spice Girls bounce back into the spotlight on Monday with the release of their first single for nearly two years with the double A-side single Holler/Let Love Lead The Way.
