Sir Cliff, who celebrates his 60th birthday on Saturday, has been dubbed the Peter Pan of Pop because of his seemingly timeless popularity and boyish charm.
But in an interview with OK! magazine he reveals he has had his forehead injected with Botox - a form of the toxin produced by the bacterium which causes botulism - to banish his wrinkles. "I've tried this stuff called Botox, which they inject. I had some injected into my forehead to see if I could rid myself of lines. "Apparently it relaxes the muscles," he said. Botox works by weakening the facial muscles. After the injection, it takes about four days to work and its effects last for around six months. Surgery Although Sir Cliff said he and his sisters took after their mother, who "always looked much younger than her age", he said he felt an enormous amount of media pressure to give nature a helping hand. "Because of the Peter Pan of pop title, I have had to live up to something that nobody actually can. You are going to age - that is a fact of life," he stated.
He added that he would even go as far as to have cosmetic surgery: "I don't see any point in beating around the bush. "I wouldn't think twice other than about the fear of what might go wrong." Sir Cliff has also spoken in the past about his daily exercise regime and strict diet to stay slim. But on Saturday he will be letting his hair down. He will spend his birthday on a Mediterranean cruise with showbusiness friends Gloria Hunniford, Olivia Newton-John, Bobby Davro and Una Stubbs. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Entertainment stories now: Links to more Entertainment stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
