Mia Farrow: Allen's former lover is Soon-Yi's adoptive mother

According to the New York Daily News, Manzie was born in Texas about six months ago.

The couple's first daughter also takes her name from a jazz star - clarinet player Sidney Bechet, Allen's favourite musician.

The film-maker caused a stir in 1991 when it was revealed he had been having an affair with Soon-Yi - the adopted daughter of his long-term lover Mia Farrow.

During a bitter public legal battle, Allen was accused, and subsequently cleared, by Farrow of child abuse.

His career nosedived for a while, but he bounced back in 1994 with the critically-acclaimed Bullets on Broadway, which earned seven Oscar nominations.

Allen recently agreed a deal with Steven Spielberg's Hollywood studio Dreamworks to promote his comedy films, after initially signing up for his latest movie Small Time Crooks.

Allen and Soon-Yi married at a private ceremony in Venice in 1997.
