Stars complete Sport Relief bike ride

David Walliams, Fearne Cotton and Davina McCall have completed their charity bike ride for Sport Relief and raised their target figure of £1m.

They were among a group of celebrities taking part in a non-stop relay from John O'Groats on the tip of Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall.

They reached their final destination on Thursday at 1850 GMT.

"It was tough, we were cycling through the night at minus 15 degrees sometimes," Walliams said afterwards.

The Little Britain star added: "We're all shattered. But it was great working as a team. There were no egos.

"We were all supporting each other a lot. We've all shared something quite special together."

The stars cycled night and day on their bikes and experienced extreme weather conditions, such as blizzards and heavy rain.

The team also suffered cuts, bruises and saddle sores.

Big Brother host McCall said she was still "buzzing" from the challenge.

"We all got emotional when we came into Land's End. I have walked away from this with some new best mates. Ask me right now and I would say 'yes I would do this again'. I am on such a high still, I kind of want to do it again."

Hundreds of people turned out to greet the cyclists at the finishing line in far west Cornwall.

Sport Relief, a spin-off of the long-standing charity Comic Relief, takes place from 19 to 21 March and will raise money for charity schemes in the UK as well as developing countries.

It will kick off with a night of entertainment on the BBC, with a sketch from Gavin and Stacey star James Corden and special editions of Masterchef, Top Gear and A Question Of Sport.

Other celebrity challenges include rugby ace Lawrence Dallaglio cycling around the Six Nations and BBC One Show presenter Christine Bleakley water skiing across the English Channel.
