| Thursday, 20 July, 2000, 13:16 GMT 14:16 UK Jude Law linked with Jagger film ![]() Jude Law with Talented Mr Ripley co-star Gwyneth Paltrow Oscar-nominated actor Jude Law is being lined up to take the lead role in a rock'n'roll movie written by Mick Jagger. The 27-year-old British star is in the frame to play a rock singer in The Long Play - an expose of the 1960s and 1970s music scene. Hollywood movie-maker Martin Scorsese, whose films include Goodfellas, Taxi Driver and Cape Fear, is also involved with the project, although it is unclear whether he will be directing it.
A spokesman for Jagger said Law, who won a Bafta for The Talented Mr Ripley after missing out on the Academy Award, was one of several actors being mentioned. Considered "Jude Law is one of the names that's being considered, but nothing's been confirmed yet and no offer has been made to him," he said. The spokesman went on: "Mick and Martin Scorsese have teamed up to make this film, which Mick is writing, but it's not yet certain whether Martin will literally be behind the camera directing. "The film will focus on the personalities of managers and agents, so it's not going to be a biopic of Mick's life, although as it's set in the wake of that '60s rock industry thing there will obviously be some things that relate to his experiences." The Long Play is one of a number of ideas in the pipeline for Jagger's production company, Jagged. Kate Winslet and Dougray Scott are currently filming the first of the Rolling Stone's projects - a movie version of Robert Harris' Second World War thriller Enigma. |
