Ant and Dec are involved in the revival as producers |
Presenters Ant and Dec are set to bring back the classic television game show Name That Tune early next year, Five has announced. The duo will co-produce the series revival, but so far a presenter has not been announced. The game, which was originally hosted by comic Tom O'Connor, saw contestants play to guess popular tunes in as few notes as possible. Executive producer Ed Forsdick said it was an "iconic format". Five's head of entertainment Donna Taberer added: "It has fabulous production values, tension, excitement, celebrity and is full of surprises. "It's Five's first big-budget, musical entertainment series, and I'm thrilled to have it." Name That Tune began life as a segment in 1970s TV show Wednesday At Eight, but it later became a show in its own right in the 1980s with O'Connor at the helm. He was eventually replaced by Lionel Blair. It is not the first time Five has attempted to revive the show, as Jools Holland hosted a version in the late 1990s. Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who are best known for fronting I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and Britain's Got Talent, revealed in August they were working on another project. Speaking at the Edinburgh International Television Festival the pair said they were rehearsing a new family-based show for ITV.
