The family quartet went straight to the top of the charts, leapfrogging US rap star Eminem. His latest single The Real Slim Shady dropped to number two after just one week at the top.
Meanwhile, hip-hop/rock crossover act Limp Bizkit went in at number three with Take A Look Around, the theme from the Tom Cruise film Mission: Impossible 2. Breathless is The Corrs' first release since last year's Radio and their sixth successive top 20 entry. Britney Spears The nearest they came to a number one previously was with the remix of Runaway, which went straight in at number two and was only denied the top spot by Britney Spears. The group, made up of sisters Andrea, Caroline and Sharon, and brother Jim, have had a slow rise to the top since the original release of Runaway in 1996, but are now firmly established as one of the world's leading bands.
Breathless is the first single to be taken from their forthcoming album In Blue. Oasis, who welcomed back Noel Gallagher for their gig in Dublin at the weekend, went in at number four this week with Sunday Morning Call, featuring the songwriter/guitarist on vocals. Other top 10 entries this week included Steps' When I Said Goodbye/Summer Of Love and Women Trouble by Artful Dodger, Robbie Craig and Craig David. |
