N-Dubz lead field for Mobo Awards

N-Dubz won the best newcomer Mobo in 2007

Pop trio N-Dubz and rapper Chipmunk lead the field for this year's Music of Black Origin (Mobo) Awards, picking up four nominations each.

The acts, both from London, will compete against each other for best UK act and best song.

Rappers Dizzee Rascal and Tinchy Stryder, as well as US singer Beyonce, have three nominations each.

X Factor acts Alexandra Burke and JLS are up for best newcomer at the awards, to be held in Glasgow on 30 September.

In the best song category, N-Dubz are nominated for Strong Again and Number One - their chart-topping collaboration with Tinchy Stryder - and are up against Chipmunk's Diamond Rings, which is also nominated for best video.

JLS are also in the running for best song for their first single Beat Again as are KIG Family with Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

N-Dubz are up for best album too, for their debut, Uncle B.

Chipmunk is up against Dizzee Rascal, Eminem, Kanye West and Canadian rapper Drake for best hip-hop act.

Mobo chief executive Kanya King said: "It is a reflection of the industry that the guys are dominating the UK nominations but we have identified a lot of young female talent coming through."

Ms King said that moving the awards from London to Glasgow this year was "testament to the fact that Mobo Music is the sound of Britain as a whole".
