 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is top of the box office for a third week |
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has held off competition from the animated guinea pigs of G-Force to stay top of the UK and Ireland box office. The Potter film, at number one for a third week, took £2.92m, beating G-Force - which took £2.48m on its opening weekend - into second place. The Taking of Pelham 123, starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta, debuted at number three with £1.78m. The romantic comedy, which also stars Ryan Reynolds, took £1.49m. The top five was rounded out by Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs which dropped two places and took £1.14m. G-Force, a Disney live action and computer-generated animation, tells the tale of a trio of animated secret agent guinea pigs. The Taking of Pelham 123 is a remake of the 1974 subway hijacking thriller. Comedy Land of the Lost, with Will Ferrell, opened at number six with £642,568, while Coco Before Chanel debuted at number nine, taking £423,268.
