Twilight fans have been treated to detailed extracts of New Moon, the next instalment of the vampire film series, in the US. Thousands of screaming girls attended the Comic-Con event in San Diego to see stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart introduce clips from the movie. Twilight was a box office smash when it was released last year, taking more than $380m (£230m) worldwide. New Moon is set to be released in cinemas on 20 November in the UK. Stewart called the sequel "a severely emotional movie", with co-star Taylor Lautner promising "double the action than there was before". Some fans camped out overnight to ensure they got a place in the queue to see the clips of the film. One scene, which featured Pattinson's character removing his t-shirt, prompted screams from the audience. Johnny Depp appeared to help preview Alice in Wonderland |
The films are based on the series of best-selling novels by Stephenie Meyer. Elsewhere at Comic-Con, actor Johnny Depp briefly joined director Tim Burton on stage to unveil a teaser trailer of their new film, Alice in Wonderland. The film, which stars Depp as the Mad Hatter and is due out in March, draws from a cross section of Lewis Carroll's writing, including his Jabberwocky poem. Jeff Bridges was also in attendance to help present early footage from Tron: Legacy, the sequel to the 1982 Disney film. Comic-Con is an annual event, which started in 1970 and originally showcased comic books but has since widened to include film, television and interactive exhibits.
