 John Simm starred as The Master in Doctor Who |
Life on Mars and Doctor Who star John Simm is set to star in the West End later this year opposite Ian Hart and Kerry Fox. The actor will appear in Andrew Bovell's Speaking in Tongues, which was turned into the award-winning film Lantana in 2001. Simm will play a detective in the thriller which focuses on a missing persons inquiry. The play will open at the Duke of York's Theatre on 18 September. Lantana won numerous awards including best screenplay at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards. Bovell also co-wrote the screenplay for Strictly Ballroom with Baz Luhrmann. Simm, who first came to prominence in Jimmy McGovern's controversial television drama, The Lakes, most recently appeared in Channel 4's The Devil's Whore and Skellig on Sky One. Ian Hart's film roles include Professor Quirrell in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and John Lennon in Backbeat. He was nominated for an Olivier Award for his debut performance in Elling on the London stage in 2007. Kerry Fox is best known for her performance as Juliet Miller in Danny Boyle's Shallow Grave and as a journalist in Welcome to Sarajevo.
